Port of Södertälje continues to grow...
The port have signed contracts with
two new ocean carriers, Icelandic Samskip and Singapore owned APL.
The new clients will give an increase of container volumes up to eight
percent.
The container growth to Port of Södertälje continues. The last day’s new
depot agreements have been signed with two new ocean carriers.
The new clients are Icelandic owned Samskip and APL, a subsidiary of
Singapore based Neptun Orient Line. The new deals give Port of
Södertälje another 5000 TEU. The volumes will arrive by feeder carriers
already calling Södertälje.
– Our geographic position, in the most populated area in Sweden, and
the short terminal times, is what makes Port of Södertälje attractive for
shipping lines and forwarders.
The new contracts gives the already grooving volumes, 25% this year,
another boost says Erik Froste, MD of Port of Södertälje
Shipping lines and forwarders that chose Port of Södertälje saves not only
time, and by that money, the close access to E4/E20, and the main
railroad in Sweden, give reduced CO2 outlet and great earnings for the
environment.
– Port of Södertälje was a natural choice for APL. We received more and
more inquires from our import clients if we could not set up Södertälje on
the APL-map, this in order to avoid the traffic problems inside Stockholm.
We now look forward to continue to develop and grow together with Port
of Södertälje says Mr Leif Dahlqvist, MD, APL Sweden AB.
