Port of Södertälje has recently invested in a new Tugmaster and a Mover for the handling of containers.
The advantages are many and the handling of containers will be far more effective and flexible as well as contributing to the reduction of the port’s discharges to the environment. By using the Tugmaster instead of large Reachstacker trucks to move containers within the port also contributes to a reduction in fuel consumption.
’The new Mover will be used to transport containers to the warm storage and stripp and stuff facility as well as to the repair/PTI areas of the port,’ says Erik Froste.
A Reachstacker truck can use between 16 and 20 liters of fuel per hour. A Tugmaster and Mover uses approximately 5 liters per hour and are faster, which increases efficiency. The Mover, which has a lift capacity of 36 tonnes can handle all sizes of container, 20ft, 40ft and 45ft.
