Stockholm is growing, and with it the port. That, in brief, is the current situation. The fact is, the Port of Södertälje’s location as a hub between Stockholm and Mälardalen is becoming more central with every year that passes. The port is already preparing to shoulder its future role as Stockholm’s nearest port.

- Naturally, we follow the developments around us carefully, says Per Fredman, VP Sales & Marketing at Port of Södertälje. We see that Stockholm is continuing to grow, something that will place new demands on us as a port in the very near future, says Per.

And that certainly is the case. As the population increases, so does the demand for all types of services and, of course, the pressure on land-based transportation.

- This is where we come in, to ensure that we can make an environmental contribution by facilitating more freight via sea routes, as well as a professional contribution by becoming the full-service port our customers want. We are proud of our expertise and environmental work; our motto is, On the way to becoming a greener port. Our machine park is already driven by fossil-free fuels and we work on a daily basis to be a sustainable port today, tomorrow and in one hundred years.

- We know that in the very near future the Port of Södertälje will be the nearest port to Stockholm. That is a striking and exciting thought. And we are ready, says Per.
